Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds
Bereaved parents and volunteer walk facilitators, Teresa and Shirley, are planning their next walk at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds for Saturday 20th May 2023. Meet at 10.15 am for a 10.30 am start.
Shirley and Teresa write:
This is a supportive group walk and all bereaved parents, adult bereaved siblings and grandparents will be made to feel very welcome. These walks are free and are designed to offer you an opportunity to socialise and chat with others who understand, as well as to offer some exercise to support our mental and physical wellbeing. If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents.
Whilst the walk will be at a steady pace and fairly short at approximately 2 miles (for around an hour), please note that our route will take us through short sections of wooded area. The ground may be wet, muddy and slippery underfoot. We will have time for a tea/coffee at the park café after the walk for those who wish to join us there.
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, adult bereaved sibling or grandparent.
There are public toilets available by the café from 8am – 6pm, including an accessible toilet. The park is free to enter but you will have to pay for parking if you need it.
For more details and to register, please click on the, 'book for this event' link. Once you register, we will be in contact with you by email prior to the walk to give you more information.
If you do book and then find that you are unable to join the walk, we would really appreciate it if you could let us know at shirley@tcf.org.uk as soon as possible and by Thursday 18th May at the latest. This is so we know not to expect or to wait for you. We will send out a reminder in the week before the 20th May.
We are so pleased that parents and siblings are finding the walks helpful and look forward to meeting you again if you have been before. If this will be your first time joining us, we hope that you will feel comfortable and very welcomed by us all.
