10 June 2023, 10.30
Crosby Marina, Liverpool
Join bereaved parent and TCF volunteer, Marcia, on her next coastal walk in Merseyside on Saturday 10th June. Meet at 10.15 am for a 10.30 am start.
This is a supportive group walk and all bereaved parents, adult bereaved siblings and grandparents will be made to feel very welcome. If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others wo are similarly bereaved.
We will meet at Crosby Marina where there is a café, toilets and a car park with a small parking fee. From here, we will get the Merseyrail train to Hightown and walk back to the Marina along the coastal path. The train fare is around £4.00.
There are various points of interest along the way, and we will visit the famous art project called, ‘Another Place’, which is 100 life-size Iron Men sculptures positioned on Crosby Beach. There are many other sites to see including a Petrified Forest, the remains of Fort Crosby which was an army camp during the war, the Marine Lake and views over to the Wirral, North Wales and the Liverpool skyline.
We will walk at a steady pace and approximately 5 miles in distance. Most of the walk is on good paths and the beach, however there could be some uneven ground in parts. We have been advised to remind you that you take part in the walk at your own risk. Please wear suitable footwear – trainers or walking shoes are fine. We are hoping for sunshine but it is always a good idea to bring a waterproof jacket. Please bring a packed lunch as we will stop halfway for lunch.
We are aiming to be back at the Marina for 2.30 pm where there will be the option to visit the café serving hot/cold drinks and food for those that wish to.
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.
