Meeting just off the A483 between Wrexham and Oswestry
Bereaved parents and TCF volunteers, David and Fiona, invite you to join them on the Chirk figure of 8 walk on Sunday 11th June. Meet at 10 am for a 10.15 am start.
The route is 4.4 miles in total and will be at a leisurely pace. We are aiming to finish at approximately 2pm which includes a one hour break for lunch. It starts at a garden centre just off the A483 and begins on quiet country lanes, woodland and beside a river on meadow footpaths with one short climb. The second part of the walk is mainly on tarmac and the canal towpath. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing, including waterproofs, as the walk can be muddy in parts. There are 4 stiles and 2 flights of steps on first section of the route and we will be crossing a pedestrian crossing on the railway line.
We are planning to stop for coffee and/or lunch at a popular café at about 12:00. We will book a table for all walkers. If you would prefer to bring a packed lunch please indicate this on the booking form so we know not to book a place for you in the cafe.
There is free parking available at the start point. Public toilets are available at the start point and in the cafe where we will stop for lunch. If you are travelling by bus - please use bus 2/2A/2C (Oswestry – Wrexham) – details at https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/find-a-service/2-2a-2c-wrexham-to-cefn-mawr-and-oswestry
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead when crossing roads and walking through fields with sheep.
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, adult bereaved sibling or grandparent.
If you haven’t walked with us before, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents and siblings.
For more details and to register, please click on the, 'book for this event' link. Once you register, we will be in contact with you by email prior to the walk to give you more information.
