Exeter Walk
12 August 2023, 11.00
The Quay, Exeter
Yvonne and Teresa warmly invite you on their next South West walk from The Quay in Exeter on Saturday 12th August, meeting at 10.45am for a 11am prompt start.
This is a 5.5.mile walk following the River Exe downstream, through Belle Isle Park to Ludwell Valley Park. Please bring a packed lunch as we will stop here to eat, and then return through the Riverside Valley Park and along the Exeter Ship Canal. Before heading home we can then relax with refreshments by one of the many cafes on The Quay.
The walk crosses a busy road, but is mainly level on good paths, though some are uneven, and we go through rough grassland which could be muddy if wet, so please wear appropriate footwear. There is one short and easy hill. The walk will be taken at a steady pace and is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Please be aware that cattle are sometimes in the parkland, though they do appear to be very used to people. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a lead.
The nearest car parks are at the Cathedral and Quay car park or Haven Banks car park, or use the Matford Park and Ride to Haven Road. If you arrive by train the meet up point is 12 minutes walk away from Exeter St Thomas,16 minutes from Exeter central and 26 minutes from Exeter St Davids. We can offer a lift from Exeter St Davids, picking up by 10.30am. Please indicate when booking if you would like a lift.
We welcome all bereaved parents, grandparents and bereaved siblings (18 years or over). We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks. If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved.
We will be sending out a welcome email about a week before the walk to give you more information and meeting point details. This email comes from info@tcf.org.uk so please look out for it (please also be aware that it can sometimes go into junk or spam folders, so do check there if you have registered for the walk and haven't received details)
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.
Please register your interest/book for this walk by clicking on the 'Book for this event' button below.
