From West to East - London Walk
19 August 2023, 11.00 – 16.00
Meet at Paddington Station
FULLY BOOKED: This walk is now fully booked. We are sorry if you are unable to join us this time.
Our walk will begin at Paddington Station on Saturday 19th August. Terry will be there from 10.45 am. Please ensure you arrive in time for an 11 am prompt start. If you are travelling by train please do check your travel plans as industrial action is planned for the day before.
We will walk around Paddington canal basin, to Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, past the grand houses of Notting Hill and Holland Park, and then into Holland Park itself. All the parks should be looking magnificent, however when in Holland Park we will visit a hidden gem, the beautiful & serene Kyoto gardens with its Japanese inspired landscape.
At lunch there will be the option of cafes or places to enjoy a picnic if you prefer.
We should finish at about 4.00 pm at High Street Kensington (near the tube station) where there will be the option of a well-deserved drink or from where you can start your onward journey home. There may even still be time for a spot of shopping or (window shopping) at the iconic Harrods.
There is a lot to see and we will be covering a distance of approximately 5 miles at a steady pace. This walk is not suitable for those who require walking aids or who might find the pace too demanding. It is important for everyone’s safety and enjoyment that we stay together as a group. As this is an urban walk, places will be limited to 30 people for safety of all walkers so please book early if you would like to be with us.
We welcome all bereaved parents, grandparents and bereaved siblings (18 years or over) If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved.
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.
We will be sending out a welcome email about a week before the walk to give you more information and meeting point details. This email comes from info@tcf.org.uk so please look out for it (please also be aware that it can sometimes go into junk or spam folders, so do check there if you have registered for the walk and haven't received details)
Please register your interest/book for this walk by clicking on the 'Book for this event' button below.
The walks are free and are designed to offer you an opportunity to socialise and chat to other bereaved parents and siblings as well as to offer some exercise to support our mental and physical wellbeing. However, you can if you wish give a voluntary donation at the time you book or at www.tcf.org.uk/donate.
DISCLAIMER: Please note that the details of this walk may be subject to change
