5 November 2023, 10.00

Greenhead Park, Huddersfield

Bereaved parents Julie, Lynne and Leanne will be leading a Compassionate Friends walk for bereaved parents, siblings (18 years+) and grandparents in November 2023. If you haven’t walked with us before, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining on your own. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of other bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents. Julie, Lynne and Leanne warmly invite you below…

Hello All

We are three bereaved parents who met through attending our local TCF Support Group in Brighouse. We would like to offer the opportunity for bereaved parents, adult bereaved siblings and grandparents to have regular opportunities to come together to walk and talk through our shared experience of losing someone close.

We will meet in Greenhead Park at 9.45am for a 10am start.

The park is mainly flat and has tarmac paths. We plan to walk several circuits of the park at a gentle pace. Feel free to do as many or as few circuits with us as you wish. We are aiming to spend around 2 to 3 hours together. The park is not in an isolated position and so you will be able to make your way, from any point within it, back to where you parked your car or where you are able to access public transport services for the journey home.

The Conservatory Cafe within the park serves a selection of hot and cold meals and drinks, including snacks and cakes. There are public toilets located at the top end of the park adjacent to the tennis courts and also within the Conservatory Cafe.

As the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year, we have been advised to remind you that you take part in the walk at your own risk. Please bring suitable footwear and waterproofs. Dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead initially but can be let off at the owner’s discretion once the walk is underway.

There is a limited space pay and display car park to the rear of the Conservatory Cafe. Please note that car parking, in the immediate vicinity, can be limited. However, as this walk is on a Sunday in winter, parking will hopefully not be problem.

All bereaved parents, grandparents and adult bereaved siblings are very welcome. Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling. If you have not walked with us before, please do not feel apprehensive about joining us on your own. You will find we are a friendly and supportive community of others similarly bereaved. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 5th November 2023.

With compassion, Julie, Lynne and Leanne.

For more details and to register, please click on the, 'book for this event' link. Lynne will contact all registered participants a week before.

Please note that TCF will be sharing details of your telephone number with the facilitators of this walk, Julie, Leanne and Lynne, with the purpose of our volunteers being able to contact you should they need to let you know about a change in the meeting arrangements or if they are unable to reach the meeting point at the time stated for the beginning of the walk. Your booking for the walk is taken as consent that you agree to TCF passing your mobile number to the walk facilitators for these sole purposes.
