Chirk Ceiriog Valley Figure 8 Walk

15 June 2024, 10.00 – 13.30
Chirk
BOOKINGS FOR THIS WALK ARE NOW CLOSED. We're sorry you missed out this time, please check our website regularly for future walks.
Bereaved parents and TCF volunteers David & Fiona invite bereaved parents, adult siblings and grandparents to join them on their next Compassionate Friends walk from Chirk village on Saturday 15 June meeting at 10 am for a 10.15 am start.
The walk is around 3 miles (around 2 hours) and will be walked at a leisurely pace suitable for most. We plan to stop for coffee and/or lunch at Caffi Wylfa at about 12:00 noon. Depending on the weather, we will probably sit outdoors (but under cover).
We will be walking along a canal and river towpath and on woodland and meadow footpaths with one short climb under trees that could be slippery. Note we will be crossing the canal aqueduct and also a pedestrian crossing of a railway line and one country road. We should expect muddy patches especially along the valley floor. Please note that there are 4 stiles to cross. Please wear strong footwear – trainers may be adequate but will come home muddy. Waterproofs are always advisable in Wales!
We will email the exact meeting point in Chirk closer to the time**, however please note that parking in Chirk is free. Trains from Chester (via Wrexham) and Shrewsbury both arrive around 10:00. Buses (T12) from Oswestry and Wrexham both arrive around 10:00.
We welcome all bereaved parents, grandparents and bereaved siblings (18 years or over). We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks.€¯ Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join. Leads are required when crossing roads, fields with sheep, etc. Two of the stiles have dog creeps.
We hope very much that you will join us.
***
We are sorry but if you are less than 3 months bereaved, we ask that you wait until you are 3 months or more bereaved before accessing our support walks – new walk dates are added on a regular basis here. We hope to welcome you at a future walk.
We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks.
If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved.
**We will be sending out a welcome email about a week before the walk to give you more information and meeting point details. This email comes from€¯info@tcf.org.uk€¯so please look out for it (please also be aware that it can sometimes go into junk or spam folders, so do check there if you have registered for the walk and haven't received details).
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be€¯unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.
