Real London Walk

20 July 2024, 10.45
This walk is now full. If you would like to be added to the waiting list please email us at info@tcf.org.uk
Bereaved parent, and Compassionate Friends (TCF) volunteer, Terry invites you to join him on his next walk for bereaved parents, siblings (18 years+) and grandparents in the Islington and Canonbury areas of London on Saturday 20 July, meeting at 10.45 am for an 11 am start. The walk starts from St Pancras Station.
On this largely urban walk, we will explore an interesting area in which Londoners live and work, away from the tourist trail. We will discover elegant Georgian houses, quaint shops, a canal and the New River Path, a ribbon of nature which winds through North London. The New River dates back to the early 1600s so it’s not new and it’s not a river ! You’ll find out a lot more on the walk.
We will stop for lunch at Highbury Corner where there are many options and seating for those preferring to bring a picnic.
The route is approximately 5 miles and will finish at Finsbury Park Station with a tube journey time of 5 minutes back to Kings Cross/St. Pancras. It also connects to the Piccadilly Line and National Rail/Thameslink.
There will be the option of refreshment at a pub after the walk.
The walk should finish by 3.30/4.00 pm.
***
We are sorry but if you are less than 3 months bereaved, we ask that you wait until you are 3 months or more bereaved before accessing our support walks – new walk dates are added on a regular basis here. We hope to welcome you at a future walk.
We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks.
If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved.
**We will be sending out a welcome email about a week before the walk to give you more information and exact meeting point details. This email comes from info@tcf.org.uk¯so please look out for it (please also be aware that it can sometimes go into junk or spam folders, so do check there if you have registered for the walk and haven't received details).
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.
To register for the walk, or to express an interest, please click ’book for this walk’.
