BOOK FOR THIS WALK HERE

Bereaved parent and TCF volunteer, Sheila, is leading her next walk in the Lake District on Saturday 17 August, meeting at 9.45 am for a 10 am start

Sheila writes...

Hi! My faithful spaniel cross, Rosie, and I are looking forward to leading our next walk and we invite bereaved parents, grandparents and adult siblings to join us. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome. It will be an opportunity to chat to others while benefitting from some exercise and fresh air in beautiful surroundings.

This walk will see us explore England’s only true mountain forest, Whinlatter, near Keswick. We shall be following a circular trail of 3.5 miles which climbs 500m to the top of Seat How where we will stop for a “Brew with a View” overlooking stunning lake and mountain scenery. At this time of year, the purple heather may be starting to flower to further enhance the backdrop!

Please note this walk is a moderate grade walk of about 2.5 hours and although it follows forest paths and trails there are some steep sections which can become muddy in wet weather. Therefore, a reasonable level of fitness and sturdy footwear are required. I would also strongly advise you to bring waterproofs.

We will meet from 9:45, with a view to start walking at 10 am. At our meeting place** there are toilets and a pay on exit car park which accepts card payments. After the walk, please feel free to join us at a café for some lunch/refreshments.

All bereaved parent, adult siblings and grandparents are warmly welcome. I hope you will join me.

***

We are sorry but if you are less than 3 months bereaved, we ask that you wait until you are 3 months or more bereaved before accessing our support walks – new walk dates are added on a regular basis here. We hope to welcome you at a future walk.

We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks.

If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved.

**We will be sending out a welcome email about a week before the walk to give you more information and meeting point details. This email comes from info@tcf.org.uk so please look out for it (please also be aware that it can sometimes go into junk or spam folders, so do check there if you have registered for the walk and haven't received details).

Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be¯unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.

To register for the walk, or to express an interest, please click ’book for this walk’.
