Welshpool Powis Castle Walk

Welshpool Powis Castle Walk

7 September 2024, 10.15

Welshpool

BOOKING IS NOW CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT

Bereaved parents and TCF volunteers David and Fiona invite you to join them for a walk in the Welsh countryside on Saturday September 7th, meeting in Welshpool from 10:15, for a 10:30 start***.

The planned route totals about 5 miles, with a break after about 4 miles at the National Trust’s magnificent Powis Castle, where the café is available to all (bring a packed lunch and/or flask if you prefer).

The walk starts on the canal towpath (with a few steep steps), and then across pasture fields with stiles and a couple of short steep climbs. After the break it is a gentle stroll back to the town along the former carriage drive from the Castle.

There is parking (about £4) near the start and toilets in a nearby supermarket.

Bereaved parents, adults siblings and grandparents are warmly welcome to join this supportive walk.

Please note. If you are unable to climb stiles or struggle on uneven ground then the full walk may not be for you, but you would be welcome to join us at the Castle if you wish, for lunch and the gentle return stroll. Please contact David and Fiona direct t TCFOswestry@outlook.com if you would like to do this and then they can make arrangements for meeting up.

We ask please that you wait until you are at least 3 months or more bereaved before accessing our support walks – new walk dates are added on a regular basis here. We very much hope to welcome you at a future walk.

We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks.

If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved.

***We will be sending out a welcome email about a week before the walk to give you more information and meeting point details. This email will come from David and Fiona at TCFOswestry@outlook.com (rather than the TCF office) so please look out for it in case it goes into junk or spam folders.

Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will not be able to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.

To register for the walk, or to express an interest, please click ’book for this walk’.
