Buttermere Bimble
BOOKING HAS NOW CLOSED FOR THIS WALK
Sheila will be leading this walk around Buttermere. We invite bereaved parents, grandparents and adult siblings to join us, and well-behaved dogs are also welcome. It will be an opportunity to chat to others while benefitting from some exercise and fresh air in beautiful surroundings.
Buttermere is one of the most picturesque lakes in the Lake District surrounded by impressive fells including Fleetwith Pike and Haystacks, Arthur Wainwright’s favourite fell.
It’s approximately 5 miles around the lake and at a steady pace with a short break it should take around 3 hours. The walk is mostly flat with good footpaths apart from one small section on a quiet road and one section that has some tricky tree roots to scramble over but help will be on hand to ensure everyone gets over safely! However, it is a rural walk so you should have a reasonable level of fitness, wear sturdy footwear and bring waterproofs.
We will meet from 9:45 and the walk will start at 10am.
Please note there are public toilets, cafes and pubs at the start/end of the walk and usually a mobile snack van half-way round, but I would suggest bringing a drink and snack for a “brew with a view” mid-way and we can then have some lunch at the end of the walk in one of the village cafes or pubs.
We ask please that you wait until you are at least 3 months or more bereaved before accessing our support walks – new walk dates are added on a regular basis here. We very much hope to welcome you at a future walk. During this time, please contact our Helpline on 0345 123 2304 for support.
We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks.
If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved.
***We will be sending out a welcome email about a week before the walk to give you more information and meeting point details.
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will not be able to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.
