Montgomery Canal – Queens Head Walk

Montgomery Canal – Queens Head Walk

16 November 2024, 10.30 – 14.15

Booking has now closed for this walk

Bereaved parents and TCF volunteers David and Fiona invite you to join them for a walk in the Shropshire countryside on Saturday 16 November, meeting  from 10.30, for a 10:45 start***.

The planned route totals about 2 miles, at a leisurely pace suitable for all. The total walking time will be about 1.5 hours. Fiona and David plan to stop for coffee and/or lunch at a pub en-route, where there is an extensive menu of cold snacks as well as hot meals.

The walk route is along the canal towpath which is flat but fairly stony with some muddy patches. Strong footwear is advised. Although trainers will be adequate, they will come home muddy. Please bring waterproofs in view of the season.

Parking at the meeting place is free.***

Bereaved parents, adults siblings and grandparents are warmly welcome to join this supportive walk. We look forward to meeting those who have walked with us before, and also welcoming those who are new to our walks.

If you haven’t yet walked with us, please don’t feel daunted or apprehensive about joining. You will very quickly find yourself in a friendly, supportive community of others who are similarly bereaved.

We ask please that you wait until you are at least 3 months or more bereaved before accessing our support walks – new walk dates are added on a regular basis here. We very much hope to welcome you at a future walk. During this time, please contact our Helpline on 0345 123 2304 for support.

***We will be sending out a welcome email about a week before the walk to give you more information and exact meeting point details. This email comes from TCFOswestry@outlook.com so please look out for it (please also be aware that it can sometimes go into junk or spam folders, so do check there if you have registered for the walk and haven’t received details within 4/5 days of the walk).

Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.

As this is a supportive walk, we ask that we stay together as a group for the duration the walk. Thank you. Please note that all walkers join us at their own risk.
