Winter Wander

11 January 2025, 09.45 – 12.00
Booking for this walk is now closed. If you would like to attend please email us by 5 pm on 10 January 2025 if you would like to join us. Thankyou.
Bereaved parent and TCF volunteer, Sheila and her little dog Rosie invite bereaved, parents, grandparents and adult siblings to join them on Saturday 11 January 2025 for a walk from Keswick and around part of Derwentwater. We will meet at 9.45 am for a 10 am start. *** This winter wander will be a chance to chat with others while benefitting from some exercise and fresh air in lovely surroundings. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome.
We will walk from the centre of Keswick to Hope Park and then along the Lakeshore path to Calfclose Bay before retracing our footsteps. Please note if it is icy underfoot we may alter the route slightly. Following the walk, we can visit one of the lovely cafes in Keswick for a refreshment and to warm up!
It’s approximately 4 miles in total and at a steady pace it should take around 2 hours to complete the walk. The route is mostly flat with good footpaths and boardwalks and a couple of shingle bays to cross. Please remember that it is a rural walk so you should have a reasonable level of fitness, wear sturdy footwear and bring waterproofs.
At the meeting place there are several pay and display car parks. ***
Sheila looks forward to warmly welcoming you. Please don’t be daunted about coming along to Sheila’s winter wander on your own. You will be warmly welcomed to a supportive and friendly community of bereaved parents, adult siblings and grandparents.
***
Please note that our peer support is for parents bereaved of a child from one month old to an adult son or daughter, from any cause.
We ask please that you wait until you are at least 3 months or more bereaved before accessing our support walks – new walk dates are added on a regular basis here. We very much hope to welcome you at a future walk. During this time, please contact our Helpline on 0345 123 2304 for support.
***We will be sending out a welcome email about 5-7 days before the walk to give you more information and exact meeting point details. This email comes from info@tcf.org.uk so please look out for it (please also be aware that it can sometimes go into junk or spam folders, so do check there if you have registered for the walk and haven’t received details within 4/5 days of the walk).
Please note that if you bring along a friend or relative with you for initial support, they will be unable to join us for the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent or adult bereaved sibling.
As this is a supportive walk, we ask that we stay together as a group for the duration the walk. Thank you. Please note that all walkers join us at their own risk.
