Greenhead Park, Huddersfield Walk

Greenhead Park, Huddersfield Walk

16 March 2025, 09.45

Greenhead Park, Huddersfield

This walk is now closed for booking. To join us please contact TCF by 12 noon on Friday 14 March.

Bereaved parents and TCF volunteers, Leanne, Julie and Lynne invite you to their next supportive walk in Greenhead Park in Huddersfield for bereaved parents, adult bereaved siblings and grandparents on Sunday 16 March, meeting at 9.45 am for a 10 am start. Our aim is to offer an opportunity for you to come together to walk and talk through our shared experience of losing someone close.

Greenhead Park is mainly flat and has tarmac paths. We plan to walk several circuits of the park at a gentle pace. Feel free to do as many or as few circuits with us as you wish. We aim to spend around 2 to 3 hours together. The park is not in an isolated position and so you will be able to make your way, from any point within it, back to where you parked your car or where you are able to access public transport services for the journey home**

The Conservatory Café within the park serves a selection of hot and cold meals and drinks, including snacks and cakes. There are public toilets located at the top end of the park adjacent to the tennis courts and also within the Conservatory Café.

Please wear suitable footwear and bring waterproofs. Dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead initially but can be let off at the owner’s discretion once the walk is underway.

There is a limited space pay and display car park to the rear of the Conservatory Café. Please note that car parking, in the immediate vicinity, can be limited. However, as this walk is on a Sunday, parking will hopefully not be a problem.

All bereaved parents, grandparents and adult bereaved siblings (18+) are welcome.

***

We ask that you wait until you have been bereaved for at least 3 months before joining our supportive walks. New walk dates are regularly added here, and we hope to welcome you at a future walk.

Our peer support is for parents bereaved of a child from one month old to an adult son or daughter, from any cause. We also offer support to bereaved grandparents and adult siblings (aged 18+)

Please call our Helpline on 0345 1232304 or email helpline@tcf.org.uk for support.

We look forward to seeing those who have walked with us before, and to welcome those who are joining us for the first time.

If you haven’t walked with us yet, please don’t feel daunted or anxious about joining. You’ll quickly find yourself part of a warm, friendly and supportive community of others who have experienced similar bereavements.

**A welcome email will be sent out approximately one week before the walk, providing additional information and details about the meeting point. This email will come from info@tcf.org.uk, so please keep an eye out for it. (It may sometimes end up in junk or spam folders, so please check there if you’ve registered and haven’t received the email.)

Please note, when you book, we will share your email address and mobile number with Leanne and Julie, the TCF walk facilitators, in case they need to update you about any last minute changes to the arrangements for the walk.

Please remember, if you bring a friend or relative for initial support, they will not be able to join the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent, or adult bereaved sibling.

As this is a supportive walk, we ask that you stay together as a group for the duration of the walk.

Please note that individuals join a TCF walk at their own risk.

To register for the walk, please click ‘book for this walk’.
