Halberton and The Swans Neck Walk

Devon
BOOK FOR THIS WALK
Bereaved parents Yvonne and Jancis are leading their next walk, beside the Grand Western Canal, and through the historic village of Halberton. This afternoon walk is shorter than usual and is 3.5miles.
We will meet at 12.45 pm for a 1 pm start. The meeting place** has an attractive picnic spot, where we could have lunch before the walk, and there are cafes nearby, with toilet facilities.
We shall stop during the walk for a short refreshment break.
We will walk beside the tranquil Grand Western Canal and then take a footpath across a couple of fields, where we will then walk through the historic village of Halberton, before taking a footpath back to our starting point.
Most of the walk is on good footpaths, but there is a path that crosses two fields, which does have two easy stiles we will need to cross.
After our walk we shall have the opportunity to go to a nearby cafe, with an attractive garden, for refreshments.
Other bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings, who do not wish to join the walk, are very welcome to join us in the cafe. We should be there by 3.15.
The meeting place has free parking. It is about 10minutes from Tiverton Parkway station, and the number 1 bus that runs between Exeter, Cullompton, and Tiverton stops nearby.
A lift is available from the station, for those coming by train, please indicate when you book, if you would like a lift.
Please register for this walk below.
Also please indicate if you would like a lift from the station when you book for the walk.
If you would just like to meet up in the cafe after the walk, please book here
If you haven’t walked with us yet, please don’t feel daunted or anxious about joining. You’ll quickly find yourself part of a warm, friendly and supportive community of others who have experienced similar bereavements.
If you would like reassurance or have questions for our volunteers, please let us know at info@tcf.org.uk and we can put you in touch with Yvonne – the walk facilitator – who will be happy to speak to you on the phone.

We ask that you wait until you have been bereaved for at least 3 months before joining our supportive walks. New walk dates are regularly added here, and we hope to welcome you at a future walk.
Our peer support is for parents bereaved of a child from one month old to an adult son or daughter, from any cause. We also offer support to bereaved grandparents and adult siblings (aged 18+)
Please call our Helpline on 0345 1232304 or email helpline@tcf.org.uk for support.
We look forward to seeing those who have walked with us before, and to welcome those who are joining us for the first time.
**A welcome email will be sent out approximately one week before the walk, providing additional information and details about the meeting point. This email will come from info@tcf.org.uk, so please keep an eye out for it. (It may sometimes end up in junk or spam folders, so please check there if you’ve registered and haven’t received the email.)
Please remember, if you bring a friend or relative for initial support, they will not be able to join the walk itself unless they are also a bereaved parent, grandparent, or adult bereaved sibling.
As this is a supportive walk, we ask that you stay together as a group for the duration of the walk.
Please note that individuals join a TCF walk at their own risk.
