In memory of Joe Haynes
Joe was a creative, dynamic and vibrant young man with a strong personality to match. He lived fast and talked fast and could light up the room with his charisma, humour and vitality. Friends say that he was the funniest person they'd ever known with his quick wit and fast delivery of comical quips. Joe was able to put this to good use through his music as a talented lyricist and music performer and developed a degree of fame as a Drum & Bass MC in clubs around Sheffield and Nottingham. The pinnacle of his music career would have been an appearance on a line-up at the O2 Arena in London, April 2020 if not for Covid restrictions putting an end to live performances.
With such speed and intensity as a natural part of his everyday life, Joe soon tired of the ordinary. Perhaps not surprisingly, his insatiable need for adventure and excitement wasn't conducive to relaxation and sleep. Struggles with his mental health together with a likely diagnosis of ADHD affected his day-to-day life dramatically. His untimely death at the age of 25 leaves a profound sadness that has changed our lives irrevocably, but I feel blessed to call him my son and to remember his way with words, his lasting musical legacy and his ability to light up any room simply by being there.
The Compassionate Friends have been invaluable through what is undoubtedly the most difficult loss anyone could face. Donations are gratefully received in Joe's memory to help give something back to this worthy charity.
