In memory of Katie Nicole
On New Years Day 2023, Katie Nicole sadly passed away due to a brain aneurysm.
Katie was a bright light in many people’s lives. She is a daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Auntie, Niece, Cousin, and Friend to so many, whose lives have been forever changed by her loss.
Katie was only 23 years old when she grew her wings, but in 23 years did more than most. She established an incredible career for herself in the UK, before moving at the age of 20 on her own to Dubai to achieve even more in her life. Not only in her career, but in life. Katie is, and always will be, an inspiration to those who met her and to those who hear of her.
For Katie:
In the quiet dawn of a New Year’s Day,
A star ascended, gently made its way,
Katie Nicole, with heart so pure,
In love for animals, she found her cure.
With eyes that saw the world anew,
In every creature, beauty true,
Her hands reached out with tender care,
A life devoted, beyond compare.
From the green fields of the UK,
To Dubai’s sands, where dreams hold sway,
She spread her wings, began to soar,
A spirit bold, forevermore.
At twenty years, her journey bright,
She chased the sun, embraced its light,
In work and love, she found her way,
Her legacy in hearts will stay.
Though now she rests, her dreams remain,
In whispered winds, in gentle rain,
In every life she touched and healed,
Her spirit lives, her fate revealed.
For all she loved, she’d wish to see,
Her memory held tenderly,
In every act of love and care,
Her presence felt, forever there.
So, carry forth her mission dear,
In every kindness, she is near,
Katie Nicole, in hearts enshrined,
A beacon bright, forever kind.
We wish to thank people who have raised vital funds for The Compassionate Friends, including Jade Urch who raised £685 in the Weston-super-Mare half-marathon, everyone at trixoline who donated £155 from a raffle, and Harrison Newman who raised £1170 in the Dubai half-marathon.
As Harrison said: Safe to say this was without a doubt the hardest thing I’ve ever done. My half-marathon in memory of my beloved Katie Smith has come to an end. It’s a mad journey but we managed to smash it with a good time of 2 hours 34 minutes, considering the limited time I had to train. No words will ever describe the heart ache and pain I felt losing you. Not a single day passes by where I’m not staring at our together photos and replaying all the countless memories in my head which I’ll forever cherish. Today I feel as though I’ve finally said goodbye to you in the way you would of loved the most. Over £1,000 raised the for charity The Compassionate Friends which has been helping Katie’s family with the loss of their amazing daughter. Thank you to everyone that donated and sent well wishes, meant a lot. Until we see each other again, my gorgeous girl, miss u & love u â¤ï¸
