On 22 September 2019 Safina Powell's life changed. Walking Through Treacle is her personal expression of grief following the sudden, devastating and tragic loss of her son Joe.

Through 24 poems and letters to Joe, Safina chronicles the first year of grief after the death of her beloved son.
