My daughter, Jessica, was knocked down and killed by a car three days before her twelfth birthday. The tragedy happened thirty years ago; the sense of shocked bewilderment and loss remains. In the period after Jessica’s death, as a diversion, I tried to read, but was unable to concentrate for any length of time. I started to seek solace in short pieces of prose and poetry and began to collect extracts which I found soothing. Moving literature on the subject abounds, from the remotest times. Its discovery proved a real help in my grieving process. I hope it will perhaps offer some comfort to the bereaved, and to bereaved parents in particular.
A Lily of a Day is available through The Compassionate Friends at cost price, plus postage. Our charity receives no profit from the sale of this book. (Of course we welcome any donation towards our work with bereaved parents and their families).
Each year thousands of parents suffer the loss of a son or a daughter. Please help us to support families in their time of greatest need.
