Job Title: Head of Administration

Location: London NW6 (Hybrid)

Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 per year 

Full-time - 35 hours per week

Job description

At The Compassionate Friends (TCF) we make a difference by providing support, understanding and hope to bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents who have experienced the death of a son or daughter. We do this by offering accessible, high quality peer support services and information to bereaved parents and their families.

As our Head of Administration you will be at the heart of our charity, managing all administrative and financial tasks essential for The Compassionate Friends to thrive and develop, including managing and maintaining the efficient running of our national office. You will be working cooperatively with a team of office based and remote staff as well as our volunteer team based throughout the UK. You will support the Chief Executive and assist the staff team, volunteers and trustees in the smooth running and development of the organisation. A significant part of your role will be responsibility for the charity’s CRM of members and beneficiaries, as well provision of financial information to our bookkeepers. You will be ensuring that the office is a reliable, integral and efficient source of administrative support to our staff and volunteer team.

It is important that you feel comfortable with the subject of bereavement and are able to handle sensitively communication with bereaved parents and family members, staff and volunteers.

  • you enjoy providing efficient and effective administration support 

  • you thrive in a busy, proactive, productive environment where you will be central to our charity's operations

  • You are a quick learner but can also provide high attention to detail

  • you can demonstrate flexibility, a customer-service approach, and ability to work independently but also sensitively and respectfully with colleagues. 

  • you have experience of using CRM (particularly membership) systems 

  • you are highly numerate and have an understanding of recording charity finance
