Job Title: Office Manager

Responsible to: Chief Executive
Location: TCF Office, Kilburn, NW London (some flexible working home/office based during government restrictions - but candidates need to be within easy commuting distance of NW London
Hours per week: full time (35 hours) or part time. Hours somewhat flexible for suitable candidate.
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 full time

The Compassionate Friends is a busy and growing national charity looking to appoint an exceptionally organised and motivated individual to manage all administrative and financial tasks essential for the charity to thrive and develop. You will manage and maintain the efficient running of our national office, including line management of the office administrative staff (currently 2 part-time) and office volunteers.

In this role, it is vital that you feel comfortable with the subject of bereavement and are able to handle sensitively the needs of bereaved parents and family members, staff and volunteers.

You will assist the Chief Executive and be working cooperatively with a team of office based and remote staff as well as our volunteer team based throughout the UK.

A key part of your role will be responsibility for the current national database of members and, working with other members of staff and volunteers, the successful implementation of a new membership database in 2022.

You will need a highly flexible approach to ensure that you are able to adjust to the changing needs of the bereaved parents and families our charity supports, as well as being able to adapt to and embrace new environments such as online and digital contexts.

This role would particularly suit a proactive, self-motivated and highly adaptable individual with excellent communication skills and a good understanding of data management. You will require at least 5 years or more of working in an office setting.

Job Title: Events & Community Fundraiser

Responsible To: Head of Fundraising
Location: TCF Office, Kilburn, NW London (home-based currently and flexible in the long term)
Hours per week: full time (35 hours) or part time. Hours flexible for suitable candidate.
Salary: £28,000 full time. pro-rata for part time

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our small team and make a real difference to the income and growth of The Compassionate Friends. We are looking for an exceptional individual to develop, implement and manage community and events fundraising for our growing charity. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising you will be able to demonstrate your skills and proven experience in:

Delivering income growth in a fundraising events or community fundraising setting (preferably both)

• Producing tailored resources and new opportunities for event and community fundraising participants

• Maximising the use of online fundraising tools, digital marketing and social media.

• Developing exemplary supporter stewardship, to cultivate, build and strengthen relationships with funders

Persuasive, engaging and creative writing will be hugely important in this role, as well as high degree of numeracy skills and exceptional attention to detail. Your highly developed communication skills with supporters will ensure that those you interact with will have an exceptional experience and return to continue their fundraising for the charity.

You will need strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically. Experience of project management, monitoring, evaluation and running projects to deadline is highly desirable.

You will be entrepreneurial in approach and results driven – able to work on your own initiative or as part of a team, meeting deadlines under pressure. You will also relish taking ownership over your work, with an ambitious drive to progress fundraising streams within TCF.
