THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED. If you would like to go onto our waiting list for cancellations or extra places please contact info@tcf.org.uk or 0345 120 3785. Thank you.

You are warmly invited to The Compassionate Friends 50thAnniversary Gathering from 1- 3 November 2019 at the beautiful Horwood Estate in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside (approximately an hour outside of London).

Our weekend together will be a mixture of supportive workshops, discussion groups, activities and guest speakers. There will also be plenty of relaxation and social time too. There will also be some commemorative elements at the event to mark the founding of The Compassionate Friends 50 years ago this year. You can read more about the history of our charity here.

If you are in the early months and years of your bereavement we will ensure we look after you and please be assured that there will be specific activities and groups especially for you offering our unique peer support, understanding and friendship.

A full event programme will be available later in the year.

You can book your place at this special 50th Anniversary Gathering by simply clicking on the ‘BOOK FOR THIS EVENT’ link on this page and following the instructions on the page. At this time you will be asked to pay a non-refundable registration fee of £60 per person to secure your place.

Once you have registered and made your deposit we will email you within a few days with the website address and promotional code to pay the balance of the costs direct to Horwood Estate at the special Gathering rate we have negotiated for the weekend. You can do this at any point up to 2 months after you have paid your deposit. If you have not booked and paid for your accommodation and meals within 2 months we will assume you no longer want your place at the event. When you book you can let the hotel know if you have any dietary, disability or other accommodation requirements.

Your full payment entitles you to participate in all activities, 2 nights accommodation and meals during the weekend from 4 pm on Friday 1 November until Sunday 3 November until after lunch. (Check-in is from 3 pm on Friday 1st November). We are also holding our charity’s UK Annual General Meeting during the afternoon of Sunday 3 November and we would warmly encourage you to stay on until 4.30 pm for this.

Costs are as follows:

Standard room with single person occupancy: £286.00 per person
(including the early bird deposit, or £306.00 if booking after 30 June 2019)

Standard room with shared occupancy (either a couple, or 2 friends sharing): £238.00 per person
(including early bird deposit, or £258 if booking after 30 June 2019)

(For a superior room, please add £40 and for a deluxe room please add £58 to the above prices– there are limited numbers of these so please book early if you would like to choose these upgrade options).

All extras – newspapers, drinks from the bar, room service, and so on – are payable direct to the hotel on check out.

The cost is slightly higher than our normal supportive weekends as this is a bigger event at a larger, high quality hotel with an expanded programme, more peer workshops and discussions, outside speakers, commemorative elements and a 'sit down' dinner on the Saturday evening.

PLEASE NOTE The initial deposit and all payments to Horwood Estate are non-refundable.

Currently we do not have options available to attend the weekend on a non-residential basis, or to attend for one night only or part(s) of the event, as we would encourage you to stay for the whole 2 days at the hotel to get the most from the weekend. However, if you wish to discuss the possibilities for a ‘bespoke’ booking please do get in touch with us at t: 0345 120 3785 e: info@tcf.org.uk.

If you would like to stay at Horwood Estate for additional nights, either before Friday 1 November or from 3 November onwards then you will need to book this direct with the hotel separately to your booking for the Gathering weekend. If you would like to book extra nights we will give you details of how to do this in the email we send you once we have received your deposit payment.

Horwood Estate is centrally located, 11 miles from Milton Keynes, just 25 minutes from Junction 14 of the M1, 40 minutes from Luton airport and an hour’s drive to Heathrow. More details on the website of the hotel.

An event of this size and complexity inevitably involves our charity in additional costs. So we are asking bereaved parents who value the work of The Compassionate Friends support the weekend.

When you sponsor the 50th Anniversary Gathering you and your child or sibling will be featured on the Board of Sponsors displayed prominently at the Gathering and also in the programme for the weekend.

If you sponsor a syndicate room a photo of your child or sibling can be included outside the room.

Please consider remembering your love one, as well as showing your support of TCF’s 50th Anniversary Conference through a sponsorship. Any assistance is greatly needed and hugely appreciated.

Please note that if you are making a booking and deposit payment from outside the UK you may not be able to use your debit or credit card on this website. Instead, please transfer your deposit payment by BACS and send us a short email to info@tcf.org.uk to let us know you have made the transfer. The details you will need are as follows:

Any questions or queries, do please feel free to contact us at info@tcf.org.uk or (UK) 0345 120 3785 and we would be happy to help.

We hope very much that you will be able to join us at this special event and look forward to seeing you at our weekend to mark The Compassionate Friends amazing 50th year supporting bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents.

Please note that our weekend retreats are run by bereaved parent volunteers. Our volunteers are not professionals and so what we offer is a uniquely warm, comforting and supportive two days organised and facilitated by parents who have also experienced the loss of a child and have found understanding and hope themselves through The Compassionate Friends.
